About the story

A curious little haggis sets off to see the whole of Scotland

Over hill and heather, along the shoreline and up through the misty glens, our wee curious haggis goes looking for the things that make Scotland Scotland: its landscapes, its legends, and the small surprises tucked in between.

A gentle read‑aloud adventure for families, classrooms, and anyone who loves a Scottish story.

Meet the wee haggis

The finished wee haggis, ready for the hills

Tucked away in a secret hiding place lived a Wee Curious Haggis. He had two wonky legs, three twitchy whiskers, and a wee button nose.

About the Author — J.R. Meechan

I’m the storyteller behind The Wee Curious Haggis, a picture‑book series rooted in Scotland’s folklore, landscapes, and the gentle everyday magic woven through our hills and moors. Born and based in Glasgow, I blend the city’s warmth, humour, and cultural richness with the wild charm of the Highlands — where the Wee Curious Haggis begins his journey.

In Book 1, he sets off from his Highland hill and travels across Scotland, meeting new friends along the way and discovering clues that guide him from place to place. Through Highland Whiskers Books, I’m crafting cosy, curious adventures that spark imagination, kindness, and a sense of belonging.

The first book is currently in development, and I’m delighted to welcome readers into this wee world as it grows.
